Quick-acting Oxnard police officers nabbed a suspect in one of two back-to-back robberies of financial institutions Wednesday.

The unrelated heists occurred less than an hour of each other Wednesday afternoon.

The first occurred about 2:05 p.m. at the Litton Federal Credit Union on Condor Drive in Moorpark, FBI Regional Supervisor Gary Auer said.

Two men entered the credit union in a takeover-style robbery, took money from two tellers and then entered the vault. One of the two was described as a Latino in his mid-20s, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 180 pounds, with short black hair.

He was wearing a long-sleeved plaid shirt over a white T-shirt and brandished a silver automatic pistol, Auer said.

The second suspect was described by witnesses as a Latino about 20 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 155 pounds, and was carrying a black pistol.

Investigators are still trying to determine the make and color of the car the men escaped in, Auer said.

No one was injured. The amount of money taken was not disclosed.

The second robbery took place about 50 minutes later when a Latino man in his early 20s entered the Great Western Bank in the 300 block of Esplanade Drive in Oxnard, and showed a weapon and demand note before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A description of the robber was almost immediately broadcast and officers spotted a suspect. After a short chase, police arrested Noe Oregel Jasso, 22, of Oxnard, Auer said. The money taken in the theft was recovered, police said.

Jasso was still being interviewed by police late Wednesday.
