Run/Expo Again Part of Fourth of July

The city’s third annual Run/Expo as part of Fourth of July festivities this year will feature a 5K run-walk-stroller race as well as a 1K run for youngsters.

Organizers are expecting more than 2,500 runners to compete in the event, which will precede the annual Fourth of July parade. First-place winners in the men’s and women’s divisions of the 5K race will ride in the parade. Corporate teams may also compete.

Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. July 4 at 17th and Main streets. The expo, from 7 to 11 a.m. at 17th and Main, will emphasize health and fitness and will feature entertainment.

The entry fee is $15 a person before June 25 and $20 after that date.

Proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley, the city’s junior lifeguard program and the Fourth of July parade celebration.
