Hubble Telescope Photos Provide New Information on Crab Nebula

Share
From staff and wire reports

Hubble Space Telescope photographs are providing new information about the Crab nebula, the remnants of a tremendous stellar explosion that occurred 900 years ago. The blue glow in the photo on the left, taken from a ground-based telescope, is light emitted by energetic electrons as they spiral through the Crab’s magnetic field. The green, yellow and red filaments on the edges are remnants of the star that were ejected into space by the explosion.
