Retire Porky; He’s Been Rude Too Long

Share

The reason I asked for the retirement of stuttering cartoon character Porky Pig was not fully explained in “Time Warner Shareholders Get Restless” (May 17).

My exact question asked at this year’s annual Time Warner stockholders meeting was: “I realize that Porky Pig has been enjoyed by millions. But for generations, a Warner Bros. media product, Porky Pig, has been used to bully and tease disabled children who stutter. When a product does harm to anyone, especially children, shouldn’t a corporation move to recall that product? Isn’t it about time that Porky Pig be retired at the age of 61?”

Based upon the stockholders’ warm applause for my question, I plan to take the steps necessary to get the stockholders to vote at the next annual meeting to help children who stutter by retiring Porky Pig cartoons.
