NATIONWIDE : FAA Bans Booster Seats for Children
The Federal Aviation Administration banned the use of child booster seats and harness-and-vest restraint systems on commercial aircraft, saying that the devices do not provide adequate protection for small children. The agency, however, stopped short of requiring the use of child safety seats like those required for transporting infants and toddlers in cars, as many consumer and safety groups have advocated. The ban takes effect in 90 days. Tests found that booster seats and harness-and-vest restraints fail to provide adequate protection for toddlers.
