Soul Activity

Members of the Interact Theatre Company are working TV or movie actors. But they all return to the stage for “Interactivity ‘96”--a festival of plays in various stages of development (F14). . . . “Theater keeps our lives going,” said visiting artist Mariette Hartley, above. “It keeps my heart alive, my soul alive.”

NoHo Grows

Selections from “Interactivity ‘96” are among the 40 free shows at the NoHo Theatre and Arts Festival (F1A) this weekend. . . . When the festival started four years ago, only a handful of theaters participated. Now, patrons can choose among plays at seven North Hollywood theaters, in addition to live music, dancing, magic, and an arts and crafts fair.

Creepy Critters

Sculptor Ron Pippin makes his mutant creatures out of leather, wood, metal, religious icons, even stuffed animals (F13). . . . His macabre menagerie is on display at Burbank’s Mythos Gallery.

Drafted Matadors

So far, five CSUN baseball players have been drafted by major league teams: catcher Robert Fick, third baseman Eric Gillespie, outfielder Kurt Airoso, and pitchers Robert Crabtree and Nathan Rice (C6). Fick and Airoso might remain teammates, though. They both were picked by Detroit and might end up together on one of the Tigers’ Class-A teams in New York or North Carolina.
