Fluor Daniel to Help Chernobyl Cleanup

IRVINE — Fluor Daniel Inc. said it has joined a multinational business team offering to help clean up Chernobyl, site of the nuclear plant accident in Ukraine 10 years ago.
The French company SGN Reseau Eurisys will head the operation. The team will offer coordination and management remediation services to the seven industrial democracies that cooperate on global issues of common concern. Fluor Daniel was selected as the U.S. partner.
The Chernobyl accident occurred April 26, 1986. A fire and explosion in one of the units released radiation that eventually affected large portions of Eastern and Northern Europe.
