From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Former Colorado Gov. Richard D. Lamm cast his lot with the Reform Party of Texas billionaire Ross Perot, telling a television audience in Denver that “I have crossed the Rubicon” from doing politics as a Democrat. In announcing that he no longer felt comfortable representing the Democratic Party in public policy debates on the TCI News cable network, Lamm said he was “obviously interested” in becoming the Reform Party presidential candidate, should Perot decide against taking the nomination. Lamm, 60, made the comments five days after his address to the first convention of the California Reform Party in Los Angeles set off a petition drive to draft him as the presidential candidate.
