Free Workshop Today on Buying a Home

A free workshop will be held today in the Pico Union district to help clarify the often confusing process of becoming a homeowner.

The workshop, sponsored by the Community Redevelopment Agency, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Angelica Lutheran Church, 1345 S. Burlington Ave.

“This will be like ‘Homebuyer’s 101,’ ” said Maxine Chavez of the CRA, who said attendees will learn about home loans, mortgages, credit issues and the pros and cons of ownership.

The goals are to teach residents the basic steps needed to buy a home and to dispel myths.

Child care will be provided.
