CSU to Drop Grads’ Extra Per-Unit Fees

Beginning in the fall, students who are pursuing a second bachelor’s degree or certain graduate degrees at Cal State Northridge will no longer have to pay per-unit fees beyond regular tuition, school officials said.

Duplicate Degree Tuition was instituted through the CSU schools in early 1990 in response to budget cuts. Under the program, students who were pursuing a second bachelor’s degree, a second master’s degree or unclassified graduate study were charged $150 per unit in addition to basic student fees.

But the mandate to charge Duplicate Degree Tuition expires at the end of the 1995-96 fiscal year, officials said.
