U.S. Soccer, Baseball Teams Win

Clint Peay and Claudio Reyna scored as the U.S. men’s Olympic soccer team defeated South Africa, 2-0, at Richmond, Va., in a match delayed two hours by lightning. Peay’s shot into the left corner 16 minutes into the game marked his first goal in 44 appearances with the U.S. team. . . . Team USA hit six home runs and extended its winning streak to 36 with a 17-7 rout over Japan at Fort Mill, S.C. Clemson’s Matt LeCroy had two homers and a single. Travis Lee, Brian Loyd, Chad Green and Troy Glaus also homered for the United States.
