Times’ Cotliar Named Senior Vice President: George Cotliar, executive editor of the Los Angeles Times, has been promoted to senior vice president, Times Publisher and Chief Executive Richard T. Schlosberg III said. Cotliar, 64, has been with The Times since 1957 and served as the paper’s managing editor from 1978 until earlier this year. “Adding George to The Times’ senior executive staff is one of the most gratifying actions I’ve taken as publisher,” Schlosberg said. “His contributions to our success over the past four decades are immeasurable, and his understanding of the journalism profession and our industry is invaluable.”
