France in a Can

Share

Homesick New York foodies should immediately recognize these herb tins with the hand-written labels. The French-style dried herbs sold at the gourmet emporium Dean & Deluca are as much a signature of serious cooking as a Wolf range in a matchbox-sized kitchen. Recently, the tins, which have wide lids for easy scooping, have become available to Southern California cooks at the let’s-put-France-in-every-kitchen shop, Maison et Cafe on La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles. The herbs ($2.95 to $6.95) are also available through Dean & Deluca’s catalog; call (800) 221-7714.
