‘Decisions’ Continues at Placentia Presbyterian

Associate Pastor James R. Wilson will continue the “Decisions That Make a Difference” series with the sermon “Here I Am, Send Me” at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday at Placentia Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Silvio Nardoni will be the guest speaker Sunday at the Orange Coast Unitarian Universalist Church, preaching on “The Hustler: Ethics and Values in the Movies” at 10:30 a.m. The former minister of Emerson Unitarian Church in Canoga Park and a practicing attorney, Nardoni will share thoughts about how films may raise and answer questions on ethics in contemporary society. The Rev. Tari Lennon will continue her “Where in the World is God?” Pentecost series with the sermon “In Revolutions? How Was Your 4th of July?” at 10 a.m. Sunday at Neighborhood Congregational Church. Frank H. Freed, executive director of the church counseling center, will help lead the services at 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday at the Crystal Cathedral. This week’s Torah portion of the family Shabbat service will feature “Torah Tale Theater,” directed by Barry Koff, at 7 p.m. Friday at Congregation Shir Ha-Ma’alot. Children will be encouraged to play roles in the comedy/drama, which recounts the Israelites’ journey from Egypt to the Jordan River and the war against the Midianites. “Summer ‘Round the World” is the theme of a summer camp for children aged 5 to 10 being offered by Step by Step at B’nai Israel. The camp will run weekdays, July 8 through Aug. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended care available until 6 p.m. The program will integrate Jewish culture and tradition with the exploration of American, Israeli and Japanese cultures. The registration fee of $35 includes a T-shirt; camp is $110 per week. Step by Step is a program of Congregation B’nai Israel, a conservative synagogue, and is managed by National Pediatric Support Services, a child-care management company.
