SMALL FACES: Exene Cervenkova has recruited L7 guitarist Donita Sparks and Rancid bassist Matt Freeman as temporary members of Auntie Christ, the band she and her former X bandmate D.J. Bonebrake are starting. There are no plans at this time for this lineup to record, but after Rancid finishes Lollapalooza in August the quartet will play some shows and see where it leads. . . . . Meanwhile, L7 has finished a new album, due in the fall, with Green Day producer Rob Cavallo as executive producer. . . .

Perry Farrell’s ENIT Festival tour is coming together, with a show planned for either Aug. 24 or 25 at Snow Valley in the San Bernardino Mountains--the site of last month’s Organic ’96 techno-dance event. Love and Rockets, Lady Miss Kier, Black Grape and Meat Beat Manifesto are booked to join Farrell’s Porno for Pyros on the trek. . . . .

Joan Jett and Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna are collaborating again on tracks for Jett’s next album, as they did on several for her last one. . . .

The debut release from Dogstar--the band that includes Keanu Reeves--is an enhanced EP titled “Quatro Formaggi,” due July 16, with four tracks accompanied by CD-ROM videos and interactive features. A full album, “Our Little Visionary,” will follow on Aug. 27. . . .

Dinosaur Jr. is apparently no more. Leader J Mascis, who recently released a solo acoustic album, is working on a new studio album under his own name rather than the band moniker.
