Product Introduction Costs Cut PerfectData Profits

PerfectData Corp., a Simi Valley maker of computer cleaning equipment, said its profit for the fourth fiscal quarter that ended March 31 was $79,000, up 25% from $63,000 a year earlier. Revenues in the fourth quarter dipped 5% to $1.65 million from $1.74 million in the same period a year earlier.

For the fiscal year 1996, PerfectData reported a profit of $24,000, down 93% from $369,000 a year earlier. Revenues for fiscal 1996 were down 16% to $6.06 million from $7.21 million a year ago.

The company said yearly earnings decreased due to costs of introducing new products.
