First American Acquires New Mexico Companies

First American Financial Corp. said Monday that its title insurance subsidiary, the nation’s second largest, has acquired three New Mexico companies. Terms of the acquisitions weren’t disclosed.

The title insurer purchased its longtime New Mexico agent, Sterling Title Co. of Sandoval County in Rio Rancho, from its owner, Carla Pfeiffer. It also bought 80% stakes in Territorial Abstract & Title Co. Inc. in Santa Fe and Territorial Escrow Services Inc. in Cedar Crest from their owner, Dan Terrell.

The former owners and their employees will remain with their respective operations.
