Re-Auction of Wireless Licenses Fetches $905 Million: Seven companies pledged that amount for licenses to provide the next generation of mobile phone and data services. The Federal Communications Commission put the 18 licenses on the auction block after two companies defaulted on license payments. The licenses fetched $30 million more in the second auction than the first, the FCC said. The top bidder was San Diego-based NextWave Personal Communications, which put up $542.5 million for seven licenses in the Northwest and elsewhere.
