1 Killed as Plane Crashes in Mexico
A turboprop plane with 16 German tourists and two crew members crashed Wednesday in the Yucatan Peninsula, killing one passenger.
Others aboard--including the pilot and co-pilot--were injured, according to Amilcar Galaviz, the Red Cross operations director in Cancun.
Rene Gordillo, an aviation administration inspector at Cancun airport, said the AeroCaribe plane went down in a jungle area as it tried to land at a small airfield in Playa del Carmen, a beach resort about 40 miles southwest of Cancun.
Two of the passengers were in serious condition, Galaviz said. The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
