Kim’s Support in Orange County

Share

In reading Part I of your series on Orange County Republicans (“Orange County GOP: Setting Its Sights on Wider Turf,” July 7), I note that you have made an incorrect assumption about my election to Congress.

The writers state that I owe my “election more to voters in San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties than those in Orange County.” This is a grossly inaccurate assertion. The support I receive from the Orange County electorate has been vital to the success of my past campaign efforts, and there is no doubt that the GOP in Orange County will play a major role in my election to a third term in November.

Check the figures. According to the state, there are 28,156 registered Republicans in the Orange County portion of the 41st Congressional District, more than double the number of registered Democratic voters in the same area. Orange County accounts for approximately 25% of the registered Republican voters in the 41st Congressional District, 88% of whom went to the polls in 1992, the last presidential election.

I would point out to you that I maintain a district office in Yorba Linda so that I can better assist the residents of Orange County.
