ANDRE’S NO-BRAINER

Share

Andre Agassi, top-seeded in the men’s tennis draw, was asked at a news conference about the apparent prevailing sentiment among many of his peers on the pro tour that the Olympics are a notch below the Grand Slams and even an inconvenience on the calendar every four years.

Agassi answered that he was tired of responding to that question on behalf of his fellow pros, adding that the Olympics were very special to him, that the Olympic experience was something not to be passed up, and that playing here was “a no-brainer.”

A follow-up questioner asked if, since the Olympic experience was so special and playing was a no-brainer, then why was he staying in a hotel, rather than having an Olympic experience in the athletes’ village. Would he comment on that, he was asked.

“No,” Agassi said.
