GEORGIA : Gingrich Criticizes Drug Comments
House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) launched a fresh attack on Clinton administration staff members who have admitted using drugs. Gingrich, speaking at a Republican breakfast in Marietta, Ga., criticized White House Press Secretary Mike McCurry, who acknowledged last week that he had used marijuana 20 years ago. Gingrich said McCurry should have admitted it was a mistake. In an instant reaction, Joe Lockhart, spokesman for the Clinton-Gore campaign, said Gingrich has been quoted in print indicating he also had used marijuana as a student.
