Harrah’s Plans 2nd Vegas Casino: Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. said its board approved plans to spend $600 million to buy a second casino in Las Vegas as part of an expansion plan budgeted at more than $1 billion. As part of the plan, Harrah’s Entertainment said, it will spend $325 million to expand its Atlantic City, N.J., casino and $125 million to expand its casinos in Illinois, Louisiana and Nevada. The announcement comes amid moves by other gaming companies to expand in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Memphis, Tenn.-based Harrah’s said last month that it plans to spend $650 million renovating its existing properties, which are mostly in smaller markets. Harrah’s said it’s increasing a previously announced $150-million expansion of its Las Vegas Strip casino to $200 million by adding 292 more hotel rooms and 10,000 more square feet of casino space.
