Sync Research Inc.: The Irvine maker of computer networking devices said it lost $2.2 million, or 16 cents a share, in the second quarter, contrasted with profit of $9,000, or less than one cent a share, for the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue declined 23% to $4.1 million from $5.3 million.

The company posted a net loss of $3.1 million, or 22 cents a share, for the six-month period, contrasted with profit of $16,000, or less than one cent a share, for the first half last year. Sales rose 6% to $10.1 million from $9.5 million.
