The Olympics have gone to the dogs in Oregon, where hundreds of droopy-jowled basset hounds competed for gold medals in sitting, wagging, howling and napping.

“It’s not like the real Olympics,” said 13-year-old Marco Ray, who accompanied his dog, Maggie, in Sunday’s sixth annual Basset Hound Olympics. “The best part about this Olympics is that you can bring your dog.”

Kory Brown of Oak Grove assisted his dog, Bentley, in the napping event. Brown diligently scratched his dog’s belly, waiting for the big snooze, but it never came. Bentley was disqualified when he got up and waddled away.
