China Cancels U.S. Wheat Order Worth Nearly $200 Million: The deal fell apart because of a dispute over contamination, marking a major disruption in grain trade with one of the biggest buyers of American wheat. Agriculture Department Undersecretary Gene Moos blamed the unprecedented interruption in trade on an escalating dispute between Washington and Beijing over how to handle U.S. wheat containing traces of the tilletia controversial kuhn (TCK) smut fungus. Moos said the problem is serious and will probably stop further sales of U.S. wheat to China until it is resolved. The Agriculture Department announced that almost 750,000 metric tons of wheat sales to China had been canceled, bringing total wheat sale cancellations to China since early June to almost 1.3 million tons.
