FileNet Corp.: The Costa Mesa software company said net income for the second quarter almost doubled on a 16% gain in revenue. Net income totaled $2.5 million, or 15 cents a share, up from $1.3 million, or 9 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose to $65 million from $56.1 million.

For the first half, the company posted a net loss of $9.3 million, or 62 cents per share, including special charges of $16 million for merger and restructuring costs, among other things. A year ago, the company earned $4.5 million, or 29 cents per share. Revenue rose 26% to $131.7 million from $104.5 million.
