County Fair Volunteers Recognized

* Ventura County Fair volunteers with five or more years of service were recognized for their efforts during a reception July 20 at Seaside Park.

Certificates and pins were presented to 46 five-year volunteers, 12 10-year volunteers and 10 15-year volunteers. Certificates, pins and commemorative gifts were presented to nine 20-year volunteers and seven volunteers with 25 years of service.

Certificates, pins and commemorative gifts were also awarded to:

Janet Brooks of Oak View and Lillian Scaife of Oxnard, both with 30 years of service; Bonnie Patton of Ojai with 35 years; and 40-year volunteers Leo and Rita Vanoni of Somis.

In addition, superintendents of the exhibit departments presented 11 Spotlight Awards for exceptional service to the fair. The awardees were:

Connie Armstrong of Camarillo (agriculture), Bob Goodwin Sr. of Ventura (fishes and friends), Lee and Elizabeth Norris of Ventura (floriculture), Cheryl Council of Newbury Park (gems and minerals), Joel and Aaron Council of Newbury Park (hobbies, models and collections), Michael Giacopuzzi of Camarillo (large livestock), Rose Foster of Ventura (photography), John and Charlotte Frake of Moorpark (professional arts), Duey and Rita Reese of Ventura (small livestock), Frances Reed of Ventura (youth) and Mindy Kroener of Oxnard (4-H).
