Fishing for a Prize? Find 50-Year-Old Companion
You won’t need bait, a fishing license or an entry fee to compete in the free “Gone Fishin’ Sportsfishing Tournament” Aug. 10 on the Ventura Pier.
But you will need to take along a mature adult--defined as someone 50 or older.
The city of Ventura-sponsored tournament is designed to promote interaction and understanding between age groups.
Bait is supplied and prizes that include fishing trips, dinners and tackle will be awarded.
Fishing parties that include the mandatory mature adult--who need not fish--may register at the pier between 6 a.m. and noon on tourney day.
Fish will be judged and weighed in from noon to 1 p.m.
