Rail Shutdown
Amtrak service was suspended for more than two hours Saturday afternoon at Union Station in Washington after railroad officials received a bomb threat. Amtrak and District of Columbia officials evacuated about 1,000 people from the station, a popular tourist site, while they conducted a search. No bombs were found, and service resumed by late afternoon.

THE BOMB: The FBI says it was a pipe bomb. It reportedly consisted of three pipes and was in a knapsack near a lighting tower at Centennial Olympic Park, where a free concert was going on.
THE CALL: Federal officials say a person believed to be a white male with no distinguishable accent called 911 at 1:07 a.m. EDT from a pay phone two blocks from the park. He warned that there would be an explosion at the park in 30 minutes. The blast occurred at 1:25 a.m.
