STM Wireless Inc. said Monday that it has made the first sale of its satellite networking product to a European communications consortium under an equipment order worth $2.2 million.

STM, which makes wireless communications products, said that its X.Dama product will provide voice, data and fax services to Unisource Satellite Services, a joint venture of European national telephone companies in the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and Spain.

The heart of the system will be four Gateway stations in Burum, the Netherlands, to give nearly global coverage. The Gateways will connect customers in Europe and North America to Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe via Intelsat and Eutelsat satellites.
