View Tech to Acquire VistaTel’s Net Assets

View Tech Inc. of Camarillo has signed an agreement to acquire the net assets of VistaTel International Inc., a primary supplier of videoconferencing products and services in Florida.

Additional terms of the transaction, which took effect July 1, were not disclosed.

VistaTel is a privately held company based in Boca Raton, Fla., that sells and services videoconferencing systems and provides network bridging services to businesses for use worldwide. View Tech installs video communication systems and related products.

VistaTel’s sales last year were about $1.8 million. Its customer base also includes such industries as education, health care, financial services, manufacturing, utilities and media/entertainment.

VistaTel was selected by PictureTel to be one of four dealers nationally to resell videoconferencing equipment to federal agencies in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. PictureTel, a Massachusetts-based company, is the major supplier of the video equipment that View Tech markets.

“Through the acquisition of VistaTel, View Tech has increased its territory to . . . an area which View Tech had previously designated as a high-growth area,” said Robert G. Hatfield, chairman and chief executive. “With the addition of VistaTel’s strategically located offices throughout the state of Florida, in combination with View Tech’s sales and service capabilities, this region will continue to develop at a significant pace.”
