U.S. Men Consistent, Losing Once More

The United States, still searching for its first victory in the Olympic men’s team handball tournament, kept it close for a half before collapsing after intermission and losing to Switzerland, 29-20.
Marc Baumgartner scored 13 goals and had four assists for the Swiss team (2-2), which outscored the U.S. men, 12-4, in the opening 20 minutes of the second half and never were threatened.
The Americans (0-4) got seven goals and two assists from Darrick Heath but committed 15 turnovers.
Coatia beat Russia, 25-24, to join two other unbeaten squads clinching medal-round spots in the men’s field.
Sweden beat winless Kuwait, 33-18, in Pool A, and France, the world champion, beat Egypt, 25-20, to reach the semifinals from Pool B.
