Indonesia, Malaysia Meet in Singles Final
The gold-medal match in men’s badminton doubles is set between Rexy Mainaky and Ricky Subagja of Indonesia and Soon Kit Cheah and Kim Hock Yap of Malaysia, who won semifinal matches.
Mainaky and Subagja, who were fifth in the last Olympics, routed Beng Kiang Soo and Kim Her Tan of Malaysia, 15-3, 15-5; and Soon and Kim topped S Antonius and Denny Kantono of Indonesia, 15-10, 15-4.
In mixed doubles, South Korean winners were Dong Kim-moon and Young Ah-gil, who defeated Trikus Heryanto and Minarti Timur of Indonesia, 15-4, 15-13; and Park Joo-bong and Ra Kyung-Min, who ousted Tao Xiaoqiang and Wang Xiaoyuan of China, 15-7, 15-9.
China’s Liu Jianjun and Sun Man beat Nimpele Flandy and Rosalina Riseu of Indonesia, 15-2, 5-15, 15-7; and their Chinese teammates Chen Xingdong and Peng Xingyong eliminated Michael Sogaard and Rikke Olsen of Denmark, 15-10, 6-15, 18-15.
