Analyst Suspended in Firm’s Probe of Xylan Leak: Robertson, Stephens & Co. said technology analyst Paul Johnson will be suspended while it investigates an information leak concerning the resignation of the chief financial officer at Xylan Corp. Speculation that C. Stephen Cordial would quit after only 10 months at the Calabasas-based computer networking company sent the stock tumbling this week. Cordial formally announced his resignation on Wednesday. The San Francisco-based investment bank handled Xylan’s initial and secondary stock offerings. In a statement, Chief Executive Michael McCaffery said the firm’s policy is to ensure that information is handled confidentially by all employees. McCaffery didn’t identify Johnson by name, though other people at the firm did. Johnson, the firm’s sales-side analyst who follows Xylan, was not immediately available for comment.
