NBC’s ratings for its Olympic coverage have increased across the board from the 1992 Summer Games at Barcelona, but the increase in women viewers is far greater than it has been for men.

After 14 nights, the average prime-time rating in the demographic group of men 18-34 is 12.0, up 11% from a 10.8 four years ago. In men 25-54, the average is 14.5, up 11% from 13.1 for Barcelona.

In women 18-34, the average rating is 14.0, up 31% from a 10.7 at this point in Barcelona. In women 25-54, the increase is 26%, from a 12.8 to a 16.1.

The overall average is now a 22.4 rating with a 42% share after Thursday night’s prime-time segment drew a 20.7 with a 39 share. The Los Angeles numbers for Thursday night were a 24.2 rating with a 42 share, ranking 12th among the nation’s 33 largest markets.

NBC says the Games have now been watched by an estimated 202 million viewers and have been seen in 90% of the nation’s 95.9 million television households.
