At Least 4 Drown as French Vessel Capsizes
A fishing boat carrying about 50 people celebrating a summer festival capsized Sunday, killing at least four and leaving at least two missing, rescue authorities said.
The trawler overturned at the harbor exit of this port city 325 miles southwest of Paris as it sailed out among dozens of boats for a local tradition of throwing wreaths into the Atlantic. Forty-two people were plucked from rough seas.
A government spokeswoman said the vessel had been authorized to take only 24 passengers on board. Police were questioning the skipper.
