$30,000 in Grants Available to Artists

Local artists and arts organizations are encouraged to apply for a series of grants being offered through Ventura’s cultural affairs office.
The city has set aside a total of $30,000 for artistic grants through a program designed to promote artistic expression and new ventures.
Money will be awarded to individual artists in the Artist Fellowship category and to organizations in the Arts Partnership category.
Fellowship awards offer a total of $9,000 to visual, literary and performing artists who have lived in Ventura County for at least one year.
Partnership awards offer a total of $21,000 to Ventura County nonprofit organizations, social service groups and schools that serve the city of Ventura.
The partnership awards will be divided into different categories, such as youths, seniors, education and cultural projects.
Applications must be submitted by Aug. 20. All works must take place or be crafted between Sept. 1, 1996, and Aug. 30, 1997. Guidelines and applications are available. For more information, call 658-4755.
