Celebration to Honor 4 Olympic Athletes

With congratulations, proclamations, music and refreshments, Simi Valley plans Monday to honor its four Olympic athletes.

In the limelight for their participation in the Atlanta ’96 games will be Justin Huish, who won gold medals in men’s individual and team archery; bronze-medal men’s softball player Jeff Weaver; and men’s field hockey team members Nick Butcher and Tom Vano.

“It’s an opportunity for the athletes to meet with some of the community,” Assistant City Manager Laura Herron said.

The festivities, complete with high school bands and local Scout troop color guards, are set to begin at 5 p.m. at the plaza between City Hall and the Simi Valley Library.
