Arizona, Kansas Add to Lawsuits: The two states filed suit against some of the biggest tobacco companies, joining a growing list of states seeking to recover hundreds of millions of dollars for the costs of treating smoking-related illnesses. Meanwhile, sources said Michigan and Oklahoma were preparing to file similar lawsuits this week, which would bring to 14 the total number of states suing the industry. Aides to Michigan Atty. Gen. Frank Kelley said he would file a suit against tobacco companies today, and legal sources said Oklahoma will file suit Thursday. Philip Morris Cos., one of nine firms named in the Kansas suit, said it would vigorously defend itself.
