Candidate for House to Address Democrats
Long Beach congressional candidate Rick Zbur has received an invitation to speak at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next week.
Zbur, an environmental attorney, is tentatively scheduled to speak sometime Wednesday afternoon. But even a daytime shot at national exposure was enough for Zbur supporters to celebrate and organize a party.
“It certainly raises the visibility of this race and puts it on a national scale,” said Jeff Fisher, Zbur’s campaign manager.
Zbur is running against Rep. Steve Horn (R-Long Beach) in the 38th Congressional District. Democrats believe that the district represents one of their best chances for ousting a Republican incumbent because it has a heavy Democratic voter registration.
