Urethane Technologies Discussing Business Alliance

Urethane Technologies Inc. said it is in discussions with another company in the polyurethane field about a possible business alliance. The company wasn’t more specific.

Early last month, Candie’s Inc. sold its interest in a joint venture with Urethane, citing “lack of common interest.”

Urethane Technologies develops and manufactures polyurethane systems for a wide variety of uses, ranging from construction components and automobile parts to office furniture and wheels for in-line skates.

The company announced earlier this month that it was laying off 10 of its 86 workers as part of a plan to reverse four consecutive quarters of losses. Earlier this year, the company acquired Brin-Mont Corp., a North Carolina chemical supplier.
