Means Cited to Stop Spread of AIDS by Heterosexuals

Low-tech solutions, such as counseling and free condoms, have a good chance of keeping the heterosexual partners of AIDS patients from getting infected, the National Institutes of Health reported Monday.

Citing a study of 475 Haitian couples in which one partner was infected with HIV and the other was not, the institutes found that nearly half of the sexually active couples who got counseling and condoms practiced safe sex.
