Area Blood Bank Seeking Donors
With the long Labor Day weekend approaching, Ventura County’s nonprofit community blood bank needs donations.
The week before Labor Day ranks with the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day as among the most difficult times of the year to attract donors, said Chris Fleming, donor recruitment director for United Blood Services.
In an effort to lure donors, the community blood bank is giving away items, including coffee cups, movie passes and sweat shirts.
Appointments are necessary for the group’s centers in Thousand Oaks, Ventura and Simi Valley. Mobile units visit Camarillo, Moorpark, Ojai and Fillmore regularly.
