Class of 2000

Share

I am a member of the class of 2000, and while I appreciated the fact that Shawn Hubler took the time to write about my class (Cityscapes, Aug. 24) , I was disappointed in her tone. She seemed to imply that all of us were the same. This, as ever, is not true.

“Modern teenagers, the studies show, are using marijuana at twice the rate they did four years ago and mating like bunnies in the woods. Headlines indicate that they smoke like chimneys and cuss like Popeye, and kill themselves and each other with stunning nonchalance.” Be that as it may, there are still a few (or maybe even more!) who do not smoke marijuana or anything else, do not mate and will not until they are married, do not cuss, or do so minimally, and have never killed anyone and don’t plan to. In this category I would place myself and most of my friends.
