Muslims in the Mainstream

Share

Jihan Hamdan, the attractive young Muslim featured in your article (A Mecca for Inclusion, Aug. 27), is certainly disarming.

Judith Miller and other scholars and observers of the Islamic world, however, comment specifically on the tendency, if not the tenet, of Middle Eastern Islamic faiths to view all non-Islams as “infidels,” thus less favored in the eyes of God and not to be trusted. I wish your article had dealt with this significant religious and cultural belief as a source of East-West tension.
