UCI’s Dohmann, Boes Stop Oregon

Sophomore Kelly Dohmann scored twice in the first half as UC Irvine shut out Oregon, 5-0, in a nonconference women’s soccer game Tuesday in Eugene, Ore.

Former Dana Hills High standout Stephanie Boes recorded her 24th career shutout for the Anteaters (3-0), who have not been scored on this season.

Dohmann, formerly of Mater Dei, scored her first goal on an assist from Simone Ferrara at the 33-minute mark. Ferrara also assisted on Dohmann’s second goal, which came seven minutes later.

Michelle Kaping started the scoring by converting a five-foot header in the opening minutes. Dena Lundy and senior Nicole Harris also scored for UCI.

In nonconference women’s volleyball:

Cal State Fullerton 3, Cal State Northridge 1--Heather Bassett had 19 kills and Shelly Smith and Stephanie Cargill each had 11 to help the Titans to a 15-11, 15-9, 10-15, 15-4 victory. The Titans are 3-0, their best start since they went 4-0 in 1988.

The Master’s 3, Southern California College 1--Christine Heins had 18 kills for SCC, which lost, 15-11, 10-15, 15-7, 15-10. SCC is 3-2.

Pepperdine 3, UC Irvine 0--Pepperdine won, 15-2, 15-3, 15-4. Jamie Hill and Sarah Libecap both had eight kills for UCI (1-2). Nicole Sanderson had 11 kills for Pepperdine (1-0).
