A federal judge gave preliminary approval to the $72-million settlement reached in an antitrust lawsuit filed by travel agents against American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and Northwest Airlines, which had put a cap on agent commissions. A final hearing on the settlement is scheduled for Nov. 15. . . . Barney’s said its president and co-chief operating officer, Charles Bunstine II, resigned and that John Brincko, a co-chief operating officer, would replace him. . . . Aluminum Co. of America’s forging plant in Cleveland was hit by a strike after members of the United Auto Workers rejected the company’s last proposed contract for about 1,100 workers.
