The California Manufacturing Technology Center, which provides assistance to small- and medium-sized manufacturers in Orange County and elsewhere in Southern California, has received $25.8 million in federal funds over the next six years to expand its services.

The grant for the Hawthorne-based center, which has a branch office in Anaheim, was announced in Washington by Commerce Secretary Mickey Kantor as part of a program to create 11 new state and federally funded consulting centers and to expand seven others.

The grant, to be matched by state and local funds and revenue from consulting fees, will finance major expansions of the center’s branch offices in Anaheim, Ventura County and the Inland Empire. Kantor also announced a one-year grant of $1.2 million to help establish a similar center in San Diego.
