City Sues Firm That Was to Fix Streets

Share

The city of Oxnard has filed a lawsuit against a company for allegedly failing to construct and widen sidewalks on 5th Street and Pacific Avenue.

The city entered into an agreement to widen sidewalks and streets and to construct curbs and gutters, with Fifth and Pacific Limited Partnership, according to the lawsuit.

But because of cost disputes, the project was delayed. The final deadline to complete the project was July, and the company still has not complied, according to the suit.

Representatives of the company did not return phone calls.

The suit, which also names American Motorists Insurance Co., asks for at least $80,000 in damages.

“Our concern is to have the improvements completed,” said attorney Alan Holmberg, who is representing the city. “We are not particularly interested in suing people for the sake of suing.”
